“Fools Don’t See” Acrylic Paint and UV marker On Canvas Map, 2021

“Fools Don't See” Is a response to the Black Lives Matter Movement, to fight for freedom, liberation and Justice. The work is inspired by participation in the protests in London in 2020. The figures in the work have a similar appearance to that of Dolls. For Dolls have been around since ancient civilisation throughout the entire world, and they play a huge role in shaping our behaviour.  Each figure holds a sign, upon the signs are messages from the BLM movement as well as lines from Roots Reggae music. The words can only be read through shining a UV light torch upon them. If you have no light you cannot see, which felt relevant to those who live by lack of awareness.

The title “Fools Don't See” is a line from the song “400 years” by Bob Marley.
