“Maggi”

“Maggi” Arcylic and Embroidary On Canvas, 300 x 210 cm , 2020 Photograph Courtesy Of Oliver Holmes

In a ever changing world, “Maggi” looks at the extreme contrast between advertisement and the everyday, mixing the ridiculous, surreal and the “mundane” through painting.  Drawing inspirations from Cultural/ astrological beliefs and daily rituals from a 3 month residency in Bangkok. The work refers to meeting points at random, the idea of simultaneous possibilities co- existing allows me to explore, and connect "different worlds" at the same time. The Painting was Completed during a residency at Elephant Lab in London, sponsored by Liquidtex Paint. Below you can watch the Video “ Simultaneous Possibilites “ made during my residency at NeNa Contemporary Art Space, and was a starting point for “Maggi”

“Flying With The Gods Before 8am'‘

“ Flying With The Gods Mandala” 0.21 mins , 2020

According to ancient Customs in Thailand, there is an astrological rule that assigns a colour to each day of the week. This Colour is based on the God who protects that day, and the Planet it rules. Many people choose to wear the colour assigned to each day and “Flying With The Gods  Before 8 am” looks closer at this tradition, within daily ritualistic exercise in Bangkok Parks. Looking at the social context of community, exercise and moving meditation, through an animated Gif, from footage taken at a local park in Bangkok.
